Braxton Key arrives to strengthen Valencia Basket’s frontcourt
2025-26 Men's roster
Valencia Basket men’s team has reached an agreement to sign American power forward Braxton Key (2.03m, Reading, Pennsylvania, 14/02/1997, age 28) through the end of the 2025–26 season, strengthening the team’s frontcourt rotation. The versatile American forward, who played college basketball at Alabama and Virginia, brings NBA experience from 42 games over four seasons (2021–2025) with the Philadelphia 76ers, Detroit Pistons, Denver Nuggets, and Golden State Warriors.
Key joins Valencia Basket as a free agent after being waived a few days ago by the Memphis Grizzlies, with whom he appeared in one preseason game against the Boston Celtics. The new taronja player has combined his NBA appearances with an outstanding run in the G-League, where he was selected twice to the All-Defensive Team.
During the 2024–25 season, Key shared a spot on the G-League All-Defensive Team with his new teammate Isaac Nogués and was named the NBA G-League Defensive Player of the Year, averaging 18.4 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.9 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game. He ended the season on a guaranteed contract with the Golden State Warriors and took part in the NBA Playoffs, marking another step forward in a professional career that began as the final pick of the January 2021 G-League Draft.
